A huge driving force behind Cheltenham Fashion Week is the desire to encourage, educate and support our young people especially those looking to get into the fashion industry.
As part of this programme we were thrilled to welcome Caryn Franklin www.allwalks.org who educated us all about the important work she is doing in the fashion industry, tackling the ever growing challenge of the media and its constant bombardement of over retouched images in our daily lives. Caryn then went onto Gloucestershire College and spoke to the fashion students there, encouraging them to take control of their careers and be aware and responsible for the marketing and PR that will no doubt go alongside their fashion designs. Caryn spoke passionatly about this subject and inspired us all to play our part in takaing responsibility for the images that are young people are bombarded with.
Alongside Caryn we were proud to bring into the college some other very talented women including our very own Fashion Director Sarah Hayley who spoke and shared her career journey as a respected fashion journalist and stylist www.sarahhayleyfreelance.com and also renowned wedding dress designer Tracy Connop who spoke about her own fashion journey over the last 15 years.
We were also excited to welcome Selina Blow, renowned fashion designer, to Barnsley House Hotel (www.barnsleyhouse.com) where we enjoyed a champagne reception courtesy of Moet Chandon, took our seats in their wondeful pink leather cinema and then had the opportunity of hearing her share stories from her life as a well respected fashion designer. www.selinablow.com
